from Rabbi Neal Katz
2009 Board President
Lord our God, as one year ends and another begins, may our hearts be turned toward you with thanks. Thanks for our lives,
thanks for each other, thanks for our blessings, thanks for helping hands, and thanks for your guidance in our individual and
communal lives.
With loving-kindness, you have taught us in the book of Deuteronomy that “if there is among you a poor man, one of your
brethren…you shall not harden your heart or shut your hand against your poor brother, but you shall open your hand to him,
and lend him sufficient for his need, whatever it may be.” (Deuteronomy 15:7-10)
And with compassion, you did not tell us merely to give to the poor, but to advocate on their behalf. We are told in Proverbs
(31:9), to “speak up, judge righteously, champion the poor and the needy.”
With mercy, you have given us the hearts and hands with which to create missions like PATH that will serve our community
as a place of support, of learning, of assistance, of relief, of hope.
We do the work we do because we know that it is right and holy. We know that the helping hand is the meeting place
between the human and the divine spirit. And so we offer thanks for the opportunity to serve You - by serving one another.
May PATH continue its holy mission of helping our neighbors in their times of need.
I wish everyone a happy holidays and blessed New Year. I look forward to a year of continued collaboration in the holy work
of supporting PATH.
Children Should Not Go Hungry...
from Christina Fulsom
PATH Executive Director

Dads and Moms should not be laid off…..
No one should have to decide between eating and paying the rent. Unfortunately, for more and more of our neighbors these are
circumstances they face daily.
YOU can change this! PATH needs YOUR help today!
Each month 200 new clients are walking through our doors asking for help. Just months ago these families thought their jobs were
safe and retirement accounts locked in. But in a matter of days salaries dropped and retirement savings folded as the economy took a
downturn.
For nearly a quarter of a century, PATH has made a promise to those in need that we will be an open door in their time of financial
crisis. We cannot do this alone. We need YOU!
Please consider making a gift TODAY.
Your neighbors are counting on PATH and we are counting on YOU.
Please donate now online or you may mail a donation to PATH, 402 W. Front St., Tyler, TX, 75702. Phone 903.597.4044, ext. 125, or email mitzie_avera@tylerpath.org for more information.
