Program to donate 1,000 fans to low-income customers who want to save money through energy efficiency
With a weakened economy impacting Tyler families, TXU Energy is partnering with PATH to provide Tyler residents with 1,000 free box fans to fight the summer heat. “The Low Income Energy Efficiency Assistance Program,” designed to help low-income families use less electricity so they can lower their bills and save money, will give PATH a $10,000 grant for the purchase of the box fans.
The fans will not arrive until Monday, July 6, according to organization officials. "It is a donation for which we are grateful," said Christina Fulsom, PATH's Executive Director. "But unfortunately, such a large amount is not held in stock locally and had to be special ordered."
To receive a fan: The fans purchased with the donation from TXU will be available to PATH clients who are also TXU clients. Those people must bring a copy of their TXU bill with them to receive a fan.
PATH clients who are not customers of TXU can also receive fans should there be any available from general donations.
"We regret any confusion this may have caused," Fulsom added. "But we need our supporters to know that despite this generous donation from TXU, we will still be needing donations of fans and donations for utility assistance for those clients who do not use TXU as their energy provider."
Please call PATH at 903.597.4044 for more information.
